Brighten and Widen a Room

wall mirrors in window sill.jpg

You already know that hanging a mirror on the wall will bounce the light around the room, helping your windows out, but have you ever thought to use a larger mirrored panel to an even more dramatic end? By ditching the decorative frames and mounting them in all sorts of less obvious places you'll notice a dramatic shift: Light will seem to flood through those elements as if they're openings rather than surfaces. The space will feel brighter and wider than it actually is.

Click below to find six places to mount wall mirrors (and, in some cases, have custom mirror panels placed) to open up a room.

Bathroom Walls

Mount a shallow ledge so that it meets up at its end with a mirrored bathroom wall, and the smallest of rooms will feel expanded tenfold.

Windowsills

When presented with a deep window casement, consider adding wall mirrors along the vertical sides—which will make the view feel like it goes on forever.

Interior Doors

In a small space, additional doorways can add visual clutter—but if you cover one of them with a mirror, it almost disappears.
